Academic Programs

The Laureate Academy provides a strong emphasis in teaching the academic skills of reading, writing, spelling and mathematics.

A variety of multi-sensory techniques are utilized in the instruction of these basic subjects. In addition to these basic skills. The Academy offers those courses as prescribed by the Manitoba Department of Education.

Students are also taught the organizational and study skills so vital to success in post-secondary school settings (such as note-taking, studying, and test-taking skills). An emphasis on personal integrity and good citizenship is vital in preparing students for leadership in today’s society.

Character Education

At The Laureate Academy, we believe that good citizenship begins with strong character. Through our character education program, students are encouraged to live out virtues such as courage, honesty, integrity, kindness, and generosity.

Our teachers serve as mentors, guiding students to develop both a growth mindset and the grit needed to persevere through challenges.

By fostering these qualities, we help our students discover that hard work and self-determination are not just pathways to success; they are deeply rewarding in themselves.

Experiential Programs

Engaging the minds of students is often best accomplished through hands-on experiences. Each year the Academy plans various supplemental activities designed to revitalize the academic disciplines of the classroom.

These include our annual Drama Production, our annual Science Fair, and Experiential Week. Experiential Week offers students a selection of educational programs beyond the classroom, geared to enrich their learning experiences at the Academy.

These programs bring students to various sites around Manitoba, Canada, or overseas.

Athletics & Activities

An important aim of the Academy is to teach students the value of exercise and physical fitness. Participation in games and sports teaches the value of teamwork and cooperation.

In addition to regular physical education classes, the Academy is a member of the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association and fields teams in volleyball, basketball, badminton, and track and field.

Extra-curricular activities also provide students with opportunities to broaden their experiences. Students may get involved in activities such as Student Council, Yearbook Club, Drama Club, Music Club, and various other creative and fitness-oriented clubs.
