The Laureate® Academy is a proud member of the Cross-town Conference (Zone 12) of the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association. Students have participated in a variety of interscholastic and club sports, including volleyball, basketball, badminton, soccer, and track and field. In addition, the school offers an intramural program that provides regular noon-hour team sports for all grade levels. Together, these programs enrich the student experience and complement the regular physical education curriculum.

The Laureate® Academy offers two bus routes to transport students to and from school on a fee-for-service basis. We strive to make our pickup and drop-off locations as convenient as possible for families.

Instruction in study skills is incorporated into every class. Students are explicitly taught strategies for effective note-taking (from both lectures and textbooks), test preparation and test-taking, and research and academic writing. All study skills instruction is designed to promote independence and equip students with the tools necessary for academic success.

Our high school program focuses on preparing our students for post-secondary education. Our students have attended various universities and colleges across Canada and beyond.

At The Laureate® Academy , students are explicitly taught strategies to help them effectively organize their daily work, homework, and study materials. Teachers provide regular check-ins to ensure that binders, materials, and lockers remain well-organized, fostering strong organizational habits and accountability.

Each student receives an individualized program based on his or her academic strengths or weaknesses. Students who require specific instructional support in reading, writing or math are placed in a program that specifically addresses their needs.

Our small class sizes enable every student to participate actively and engage regularly with both teachers and classmates. This high level of interaction not only enhances academic learning but also supports positive social development. Students often build close and lasting friendships within this nurturing environment.

In addition to the natural social growth that occurs in our small and caring community, students receive explicit instruction in social skills through their Mentor Groups. Led by a dedicated teacher-mentor, these groups explore topics such as leadership, friendship, assertiveness, goal setting, and key character traits including integrity, honesty, self-discipline, responsibility, and perseverance.

Contact the school at (204-831-7107) to schedule a meeting with our admissions office. This initial interview will give you an opportunity to get to know our philosophy and approach to education as well as to discuss your child’s educational needs. You are welcome to bring along any educational or psychological assessments you may have for your child.

Approximately 15-20% of our students receive bursary assistance from the Friends of The Laureate® Academy, a registered charity that provides financial assistance to students who, due to financial restraints, would otherwise not be able to attend The Laureate Academy.

Although class sizes vary by age, instruction in core subjects — reading, writing, and mathematics — is typically delivered in small groups of six to eight students. Classes in content areas such as science and social studies average about 10 to 12 students. One-on-one instruction is also provided when needed.

There are a myriad of other clubs and activities in which students may participate. Options have included: Drama Club (which stages one major play each spring), Yearbook Club, Chess Club, Fitness Club, Science Club, Walking Club, Sketch Club, Harry Potter Club, Lego Club, Yoga Club, Student Council, and others according to student interest.
